South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor has unveiled the first image renderings of soon-to-be-launched Genesis Premium Sedan.
The company held an 'All-New Genesis Media Preview' for the Korean media at its R&D center to accompany the event.
Hyundai Motor R&D Moon head Sik Kwon said, "Launched in 2008, Hyundai's first premium rear-wheel drive sedan Genesis surprised the industry with its outstanding product competitiveness.
"The evolved all-new Genesis is the product of Hyundai's best resources and capabilities and we strongly believe it will be a game-changer in the market."
The company initiated the project with an investment of KRW500bn, to develop a world-class premium rear-wheel drive sedan. It worked on for four years to develop the current version.
Genesis is the first model to incorporate Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. Initially, the company launched the Fluidic Sculpture design in 2009. Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 concept includes harmonious design with refined fluidic design elements, advanced look with a singular hexagonal grille, rich visuotactile color, material and finishing of the car.
The new car focuses on human machine interface (HMI) which allows drivers to intuitively recognize vehicle functions and utilize those functions effectively. Due to improved body structure and rigidity, Genesis significantly improved its safety in crash tests.
Other features include application of advanced seatbelt functions such as Emergency Fastening Device system (EFD), improved suspension and improved lateral stiffness of the front and rear suspensions which contribute to make a stable chassis.
The electronic control suspension such as advanced traction cornering control (ATCC) enables greater stability in corners, while the rack-mounted motor driven electric power steering (R-MDPS) provides stability and direct response at low and medium speeds.
