Black Bridge Foods Have Passed The Standards of Local Safety

The Food and Drugs administration (FDA) department of Taiwan announced that a batch of raw ingredients used by Black Bridge Foods in processed foods was found to be free from methyl-mercury and have passed the standards of local safety.

This is in contrast to the findings of Centre of food safety in Hong Kong, which said that the Black Bridge Foods' fried swordfish fiber product was tested positive for methyl-mercury, lead and cadmium.

The test results came six days after officials from the department visited the company's Tainan factory for the collection of samples.

The centre issued a warning against eating the company's fried swordfish fibers products as they said that a sample showed the products contained 3.5ppm mercury levels which is about seven times more than the permissible level of 0.5ppm.

Following this, the company had voluntarily pulled 4,000 pre-packaged fried swordfish fiber products from stores across the country.

However, the inspection by the FDA did not find any methyl mercury in the fish. It also found that the products met other safety standards.
