Toyota Alabama has inaugurated its $80m second V6 engine line at its engine manufacturing plant in Huntsville, Alabama.
Besides this, the company has also rolled its 3 millionth engine off the production from this plant.
The company currently produces four-cylinder, V6 and V8 engines for seven North American-built Toyota models at this plant. The seven models include Camry, Highlander, RAV4, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra and Venza.
The plant has a production capacity of nearly 750,000 engines per year. Toyota Alabama produced more than 540,000 engines at this plant in 2013.
Toyota Alabama president Jim Bolte said that the launch of an additional V6 engine line and production of their three millionth engine are milestones.
"Our new V6 is particularly monumental because we are now the only Toyota engine plant in the world with four separate production lines," Bolte added.
The production expansion has also created 125 new jobs in the region.
