POS Bio-Sciences, Apeiron Lanka Partner to Set up Essential Oil Facility in Sri Lanka

POS Bio-Sciences has partnered with Apeiron Lanka to set up a manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka to extract pure essential oils.

The new facility will process raw materials from Sri Lankan farmers, employing the local people.

Apeiron Lanka chairman and managing director Ashoka Siriwardena said: “Sri Lanka – a tropical country with ample rainfall and rich soil conditions – is blessed with valuable agricultural products of premium taste and quality.

“Our customers will benefit from the high quality plant extract products, tailor-made by POS technologies to suit unique needs. We are very excited to build on this opportunity.”

The partnership is expected to give a boost to a rapidly growing local economy with a robust export market network.

The Sri Lankan facility is expected to commence operations by the end of 2017.

POS Group of Companies president and CEO Dale Kelly said: “We see a lot of opportunity and potential here thanks to Free Trade agreements with neighboring countries including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Maldives. Plus, easily accessible raw materials and access to internationally and locally owned independent testing facilities will help ensure quality products.”

Earlier this month, POS announced the acquisition of Illinois-based INCON, a short-path and fractional distillation facility.

The 24,750sq2 facility is POS’ first physical facility into the US market and is expected to help in strengthening its global expansion.

POS Bio-Sciences is research and development(R &D) bioprocessing company that creates value added products and ingredients from biological materials of all kinds, for uses in food supplements, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, biofuels, and medical devices.
