Oskar Blues Brewery has partnered with packaging giant Ball to introduce its craft beer in a new 32oz can – Crowler.
Crowler is a recyclable 32oz can that is made from aluminum with 68% recycled content at the bar in the Tasty Weasel Tap Room in Colorado.
The brewery has added a CO2 purge station to purge the cans before filling them, in order to ensure that there is no beer-degrading oxygen added to the beer. The can uses a tabletop design commonly used for canning homemade food into steel cans.
Oskar Blues Brewery Crowler integration Jeremy Rudolf said: "We get off on pushing the limits, doing things differently and the Crowler is another step of innovation to take advantage of what the can package has to offer from behind the bar."
All special brews from the brewery will be available for sale in Crowler cans at Big Beers, Belgians and Barleywines in Vail, Colorado, starting 11 January 2014.
