Hastings Mutual Insurance, a regional property/casualty insurance carrier in the Midwest, has appointed William (Bill) Gregor as its new vice president of insurance operations.
Gregor is currently serving as the assistant vice president of personal and farm lines, the underwriter said.
The existing vice president, Keith Jandahl will retire by December 2012, after being in the insurance industry for 35 years and serving as vp of insurance operations at Hastings Mutual for more than 13 years.
Under the guidance of Jandahl, Hastings Mutual increased its direct written premium twice from $179m to a projected $359m by year-end 2012, with Commercial Lines written premium increasing from $56m to nearly $146m.
During his tenure, the firm also rolled out a variety of products including light manufacturing, church, vintners, and greenhouse programs along with being one of the first carriers to offer pollution coverage for farms and automatically include equipment breakdown coverage in the company's farm program.
