International Truck, an arm of Navistar International, has begun the output of its first WorkStar vocational trucks armed with the 6.7-liter Cummins ISB6.7 engine, which is also available as an option with International DuraStar medium-duty truck.
The WorkStar offers alternatives including multiple-frame rail, a double-sided galvanized steel cab bolstered by five-step corrosion shielding process and a multiplexing architecture called Diamond Logic electrical system.
Navistar North America truck sales and marketing senior vice-president Jeff Sass said: "Production of the WorkStar with Cummins ISB6.7 is an important milestone in meeting the needs of vocational customers by providing a comprehensive offering of proven components.
"The WorkStar with Cummins ISB6.7 gives customers a winning combination of performance and strength."
With the introduction of the Cummins ISB 6.7-liter with engine specifications up to 325 horsepower and 750lbft, the WorkStar model is said to receive a boost in choices for powertrain, such as, Navistar's proprietary 9.3-liter and 13-liter products.
International Truck Vocational Product Line vice-president and general manager David Hillman said: "The International WorkStar with Cummins ISB6.7 is the right truck for a large portion of our vocational customers... Customers don't have to compromise. They can have it all -- efficiency, comfort, capability, and now the proven Cummins ISB6.7 engine."
The company has also supplied WorkStar with conventional manual and automated-manual transmission offerings from Eaton and fully-automatic product lineup for from Allison.
