Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has received a letter of award worth US$1 billion from Saline Water Conversion Corp for the Yanbu Phase 3 Seawater Desalination Plant project in Saudi Arabia.
The Yanbu Phase 3 Desalination Plant will be built with MSF technologies in the industrial city of Yanbu, 350km north of Jeddah, to supply fresh water to Yanbu and the nearby Medina region. The plant will deliver 550 000 tons (121 MIGD) of water, which is enough to meet the daily requirements of 1.8 million people.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract includes equipment design and manufacturing as well as installation and testing.The project is expected to be completed by March 2016.
