The Zumtobel group has bought the remaining shares in its joint venture Thorn Lighting Tianjin and plans to expand the business to cater for all outdoor lighting applications.
Zumtobel previously held a 70 per cent stake in the joint venture formed between Thorn and Tianjin Yanyu Investment company in 1996, and now wants the business to provide fa?ade lighting and other outdoor architectural lighting products in addition to the road and tunnel lighting products it already produces.
In a statement, Zumtobel said Thorn Lighting Tianjin, which has 120 employees, will not only focus on China but will provide outdoor lighting to all of Thorn's export markets.
Zumtobel opened the Thorn factory for road and tunnel lighting in Tianjin, China last year.
