US Poultry Products Are Withdrawn Over Possible Health Risk

Canadian establishment Sunrise Poultry Processors is recalling around 2,705 pounds of poultry products as they were imported without the benefit of full inspection, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The products associated with the recall include 40lb bulk cases of Sunrise Poultry CHICKEN THIGHS; 25lb cases of Sunrise Poultry CHICKEN THIGHS BONELESS, Sunrise Poultry BONELESS CHICKEN BREAST and Sunrise Poultry CHICKEN WHOLE FRYER.

The recall also includes 4lb and 3.25- 3.75 lb cases of Sunrise Poultry CHICKEN WHOLE FRYER.

These recalled products were produced on 2 February and shipped to retail locations in Washington.

The recall has been initiated after FSIS was reported by the import facility that product with an estimated date of arrival of 4 February 2015 had not been received at that location.

It has been classified as Class I health hazard which means there is a reasonable probability that the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death on consumption.

However, no illnesses have been reported with the consumption of the recalled products.
