Ford Starts Production of Right-Hand-Drive Mustang

Ford has started production of the right-hand-drive Mustang at the company's Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan, US.

Ford said that it would be the first year for the availability of Mustang in more than 100 markets where motorists drive on the left side of the road.

The right-hand-drive models will be exported to more than 25 countries including UK, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

According to Ford, it has already bagged 3,000 orders in Australia, and 400 orders in New Zealand.

The Australian Mustang models are expected to be customised with 5.0-litre V8 GT model over the turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost variant.

According to reports, about 89% of the local orders have been placed for the V8 engine.

Ford Global Marketing executive vice president Stephen Odell said: "Initial global response to the Mustang has been strong, and we are only in second gear.

"We continue accelerating production and global reach with right-hand-drive models now coming out of the plant."
