US based carmaker Ford Motor has chosen the technology solutions provider, AeroVironment as installation partner and authorized charging station supplier for its electric vehicles (EV).
Under the deal, the technology provider will offer 240-volt charger and install the charging stations for the Ford Focus Electric, C-MAX Energi and Fusion Energi plug-in electric vehicles.
AeroVironment senior vice president, Efficient Energy Systems business segment general manager Wahid Nawabi said, "AeroVironment looks forward to delivering a complete home charging solution to Ford plug-in customers so they can enjoy the benefits and convenience of faster charging and cleaner driving."
According to the company, AeroVironment's 240-volt home charging package will recharge an EV in 2.5 hours, while offering a range of 21 miles.
The Focus Electric will travel a distance of 76 miles by charging for about 4 hours, while the vehicle would take 18 hours to 20 hours to completely recharge using a 120volt wall outlet, the company said.
