Automotive components manufacturer Magna International's subsidiary, Magna Exteriors and Interiors (MEI) has established a new manufacturing facility in Meerane, Germany.
Located near Volkswagen Sachsen facility in Mosel, the new plant will supply exterior plastic parts to Volkswagen and is expected to support Magna's plan to expand its footprint in Europe.
The new facility, called as MEI Meerane is spread across 15,000sqm area and houses facilities for injection molding, painting and assembly.
Volkswagen Sachsen Department of Human Resources and Organisation managing director Dirk Coers said, "Volkswagen Saxonia and Magna's new facility in Meerane are producing based on a close partnership."
Parts manufactured by the facility include the first program for producing front and rear bumpers for the new Golf VIII, while the company is expected to start manufacture of rocker panels for the next generation Volkswagen Passat model.
