German carmaker BMW has unveiled the new X4 Concept sports activity coupe (SAC) ahead of its world premiere at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show.
The production version of the new concept SAC, which is based on the carmaker's X3 model, is expected to be powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder and 3.0L six-cylinder gasoline units, in addition to a 3.0L six-cylinder common rail diesel engine.
All the engine variants are expected to be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system.
The new model is scheduled to be launched in 2014 and will be manufactured at the company's Spartanburg plant in the US, alongside other models including the X5, X6 and X3.
Additionally, BMW is also developing a plug-in-hybrid variant of the X4, which would be powered by an improved 3-series ActiveHybrid's gasoline-electric system along with a 3.0L six-cylinder engine and an electric motor.
BMW will also unveil its new 3 Series Gran Turismo and M6 Gran Coupe in addition to concept models including Active Tourer, i3 and i8 at the auto show.
