Kenya Have Announced That The Project Will Be Completed Next Year

Parties responsible for a new KSh12 billion cement factory in the West Pokot district of Kenya have announced that the project will be completed next year, following revisions to the project’s implementation plan.

The project, initially scheduled to draw to a conclusion this year, had begun to amass fears that it might not take off at all. However, Cemtech Sanghi Group CEO, Rajesh Kumar Rawal, said, "It is a complex project but we are committed to completing it within the next 15 months,” as he spoke to local press on the matter. All of the necessary licences are in place and much of the groundwork has been done already.

Once completed, the plant is expected to have a production capacity of around 1.2 million tpa, and directly employ a workforce numbering in the hundreds.

Cemtech Sanghi is currently performing testing on local limestone deposits in order to establish how long the raw materials will last for. The project s general manager, Diptish Nandha, who is stationed at the site and says that his team is working round the clock.
