The Tuwairqi Steel Mills Limited is holding a seminar on the introduction of state of the art technology 'Direct Reduction Route of Iron Making in Pakistan' here on Monday at Pearl Continental Hotel.
Ministry of Industries Additional Secretary Agha Nadeem would grace the occasion with his presence while POSCO Resident Director Mr Young Ho Yoo, TSML Director Project Zaigham Adil Rizvi, Shajarpak MD Khawaja Usman, Midrex Commissioning Managers Paul Jaimungal Singh, Waddington Stawrt Godfrey and MMTE Plant Manager Masoud Darvishi would also speak on the occasion and share their experiences with participants.
TSML Director Project Zaigham Adil Rizvi said that a revolution of industrial growth is on the cards as Tuwairqi Steel Mills is ready for commercial production in coming January. He said that TSML is Pakistan's first private sector integrated environment-friendly steel manufacturing project of Al Tuwairqi Holding. Terming steel as vital for economic development of any country, Mr Zaigham Rizvi said that TSML will serve as a catalyst for industrial growth in Pakistan adding that Saudi Arabia has invested almost USD 400 million in this project while South Korean steel giant POSCO has also invested USD 15 million to make this mega project viable.
He further said that owing to environment-friendly production process and consistent highly quality of product, DRI technology is widely being used in the world. Likewise, TSML's DRI plant, after commercial production, would not only give environment-friendly atmosphere and meet country's steel requirements but also create huge job opportunities for technical and skilled labour force of Pakistan.
MrZaigham Adil Rizvi was of the view that currently Pakistan is still relying on imports while producing heavy mechanical structures and engineering goods but after producing high-quality steel at TSML plant, Pakistan would be able to manufacture such heavy equipment locally that could also be exported to fetch valuable foreign exchange.
