Range Rover Evoque Convertible at The 2012 Geneva Motor Show Will Not Go Into Production

The Range Rover Evoque Convertible concept revealed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show will not go into production according to European media, though Land Rover is refusing to confirm or deny the rumours.

Unofficial reports currently circulating say that feedback from the public have led Jaguar Land Rover to having second thoughts about going into production with the Evoque Convertible.

Land Rover Design Director, Gerry McGovern, was originally upbeat about creating a convertible version of Evoque when he previously said, “The Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible. The study is not a traditional convertible design execution – instead we have worked with the balance of the Evoque’s lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable.”

Land Rover hasn’t put a foot wrong since it launched the Range Rover Evoque in 2011, posting record sales for the entry-level Range Rover.

The iconic Brit off-road marque followed up with the recent launch of the new-generation Range Rover, which is also expected to sell well in the global market.

Next up for Land Rover will be the eagerly awaited next-generation Range Rover Sport, recently revealed at the New York Motor Show for the first time ahead of its global launch later in the year.

Land Rover Australia spokesperson, Tim Krieger would neither confirm nor deny the reports, rather, suggesting that the Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept was still under consideration.
