Clariant to Install New Machines to Boost Printing Tubes and Stoppers Business

Specialty chemicals firm Clariant is planning to install new, high-speed, six-color offset tube printing machines at its production facility in Romorantin, France to offer new options for customizing package designs to customers.

Clariant’s Healthcare Packaging expects the new equipment to increase its production capacity of printing tubes and stoppers at the plant by 30%.

Planned to be completed early in 2017, the investment in additional printing capabilities comes as the company intends to meet the growing demand from pharmaceutical and nutraceutical customers.

Clariant Healthcare Packaging sales head Philippe Depois said: “Our large range of tube and desiccant stopper offerings gives customers flexibility and choice in their package design.

“And, we continue to expand tube and stopper production and state-of-the-art printing capabilities in Romorantin.”

Rigid tubes and accompanying desiccant closures are ideal for effervescent tablets, lozenges, and solid-dosage nutraceuticals.

The firm has already commenced installation of the new high-speed, offset tube printers while with some capacity increase expected by the end of October.

The new printing machines are expected to complement the existing high-volume tube and stopper production capabilities at the plant.

Through Romorantin plant and two other plants in US and China, Clariant manufactures 40 different sizes of tubes and 50 different desiccant stoppers for its customers.

Clariant’s Healthcare Packaging provides portfolio of controlled atmosphere packaging solutions designed to protect products from degradation.
