Cadillac Unveiled a New 3.6L Twin-Turbo V-6 VVT DI Engine

Cadillac, a luxury automobile and SUV division of US automaker General Motors (GM), has unveiled a new 3.6L Twin-Turbo V-6 VVT DI engine for the new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan, which will debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show in the US.

Claimed to be the most powerful six-cylinder engine in the midsize luxury segment from GM, the new powertrain will be mated to a paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission and generate an output of 420hp and 583Nm of torque.

The new engine's pair of smaller turbochargers and a charge air cooler would assist in offering instant power delivery, while about 90% peak torque is claimed to be offered from 2,500rpm to 5,500rpm, which enhances driving conditions, such as accelerating or surpassing traffic on the highway.

The engine would allow the new CTS sedan to sprint from 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 170mph.

Features of the new engine include direct injection fuel system, aluminum pistons, vacuum-actuated wastegates with electronic control valves, tuned air inlet and outlet resonators and aluminum cam covers.

Cadillac will also debut the 2014 CTS sedan powered by two additional powertrain variants including 321hp 3.6L V-6 engine and a 272hp 2.0L four-cylinder engine.
