Union Process Sets up Dry Grinding Lab Attritor

Union Process, Inc., known globally as a manufacturer of particle size reduction and dispersion equipment as well as related services for a broad range of research and industrial applications, has designed and built a new lab-size SD1 dry grinding Attritor with a special charging and discharging apparatus.

Whereas typical SD1 Attritors are designed for grinding under inert atmospheres with shaft seals, jacketed tanks for heating or cooling, charging ports, and gauges for  control of the pressure in the vessel, this new model is equipped with newly designed charging and discharging vessels. This unique system is designed so that one can charge the mill in a controlled atmosphere, inerted with nitrogen or argon, and also discharge the mill under controlled atmospheric conditions. The system is modular with different sizes available. For example, a small vessel would be used for taking a sample while a much larger one would be used to discharge the entire contents of the mill.

This particular mill has a metal-free configuration with a zirconium oxide tank and zirconium oxide sleeved arms. As this equipment is destined for Europe, it is CE-certified.

Since 1946, Union Process has been developing and building custom Attritors for customers with a wide variety of applications all around the world.

Union Process is the inventor and developer of Attritor technology and manufactures wet and dry grinding mills as well as horizontal bead mills.
