Bud’s Best Cookies, a US-based producer of cookies, has announced that all cookie flavors manufactured from its line are now produced using trans fat-free shortening.
The move comes following the recent emphasis being placed on the negative effects of using trans fats.
Trans fats increases bad cholesterol levels and is the leading cause of death in the country, coronary heart disease. The elimination of trans fat ingredients benefits health conditions by reducing the risk of experiencing complications with heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure.
Bud's Best Cookies will maintain current prices and absorb additional expenses, even though the production costs to formulate this healthier alternative increased five percent. The company was founded in 1991 and produces sandwich cookies, and wire-cut and rotary cookies.
