British luxury carmaker Jaguar has unveiled the new C-X75 Hybrid Prototype sports car, which is claimed to offer the efficiency of a low-emissions city car.
The new prototype is powered by a 1.6L turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder petrol engine as well as two electric motors that deliver power to each axle.
Mated to a seven-speed automated manual transmission, the engine delivers a combined output of 850hp and about 1000Nm of torque, while offers a sprint from 0-100mph in about six seconds and a top speed of 220mph.
Jaguar claims that the C-X75 can be operated for about 60km in pure electric vehicle mode, while generating overall CO2 emissions of about 89g/km.
The British carmaker collaborated with development partner Williams Advanced Engineering in developing the new four-wheel drive, plug-in parallel hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) incorporating its carbon composite monocoque chassis.
Earlier the C-X75 hybrid prototype was unveiled as a concept in 2010.
