Food packaging company Crown Food Europe is planning to eliminate about 116 jobs at its site in Worcester, UK, as a part of its restructuring plan.
The company noted that this decision has been made after changes in the food packaging sector led to decline in sales.
The Worcester site, which produces two piece and three piece cans for the food industry, is one of the company's four facilities in the UK and Ireland. It produces two-piece and three-piece cans and ends for the food industry, reported Foodmanufacture.co.uk.
According to the company, the manufacturing capacity across the UK and Ireland food sites currently exceeds the demand.
Crown Food Europe has initiated a 90-day consultation. It is also in discussion with trade union representatives regarding the future of the site, as a part of a wider review of manufacturing facilities in UK and Ireland.
