US based Hydraulic hybrid system maker Lightning Hybrids is set to debut its Energy Recovery System (ERS) in Mexico during Expotransporte ANPACT in Guadalajara.
The system is expected to save fuel and reduce emissions for truck and bus fleets in the country.
Lightning Hybrids has teamed up with a local business partner to introduce the system on a diesel powered passenger city bus.
The ERS system applies a hydraulic system vehicle in order to regenerate braking energy, which is stored and used during acceleration.
The battery-less system helps reduce fuel costs for fleets and cut emissions by using otherwise-wasted energy for acceleration by supplementing power from the internal combustion engine.
According to Lightning, its ERS is compatible with all fuels types and is available for installation on new vehicles and existing vehicles.
Lightning Hybrids sales vice president Dave Brosky said: "Lightning Hybrids is now able to provide the fleet marketplace inMexico with a unique hybrid technology which can significantly reduce operating costs by significantly reducing fuel use and vehicle maintenance while transforming fleets to more environmentally friendly operations.
"We are excited to participate in the Expotransporte ANPACT show and to demonstrate the integral role hybrid systems will play in truck and bus efficiency."
Previously, the company introduced its first emission-reducing brake regeneration technology on a walk-in box truck, which is also designed to enhances fuel efficiency while significantly reducing emissions.
