Trade Resources Company News Court: Teva Is Slip-On, Not Sports Footwear

Court: Teva Is Slip-On, Not Sports Footwear

Teva parent Decker Corp. has failed to get Teva branded  footwear classified as sports under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. Such a grouping would have saved the company a duty of 37.5 under Teva's current classification in 2008 in a separete best brought by Decker and maintained the company must abide by that decision.

Deckers unsuccessfully argued that sport sandals are "an evolutionary step in improving traditional traning shoes by providing greater breathability, and that tariff terms are written to embrace future improvements to merchandise that maintain the same function as their predecessors.
