Hearthside Food Solutions is investing in the US and Europe to increase its bar production, under two separate agreements.
The company will acquire VSI, a producer of nutrition, diet, and functional bars in Europe, as well as a nutritional supplement bar production facility in Boise, Idaho, US from a subsidiary of Post Holdings in separate transactions.
Hearthside Food plans to produce nutrition and diet products, and functional bars at the Boise facility.
Commenting on the deals, Hearthside Food Solutions founder and chairman Rich Scalise said: "This is both a category and geographic expansion, putting Hearthside into the three fastest-growing bar categories as well as in the European market, where VSI is a leader.
"The R&D and production expertise of VSI in the fast-growth categories of nutrition, diet, and functional bars enables Hearthside to take a quantum leap forward, providing our customers with the most complete offerings in the industry."
Through VSI acquisition, Hearthside Food will gain access to three manufacturing facilities for nutrition, diet, and functional bars as well as R&D, formulation, and innovation capabilities in Europe.
Upon completion in September this year, the acquisitions will increase Hearthside's network to 23 facilities.
