British baking firm Warburtons is set to establish a £20m bakery facility in Lancashire, a move which would create 60 jobs.
The facility, which will be built next to the company's existing bakery in Billington Road, Burnley, will manufacture products such as wraps and sandwich thins. It is expected to produce an average of 5,500 products per hour.
The company has submitted a planning application to the Burnley Borough Council and expects to commence work on the project in February.
Warburtons managing director Neil Campbell said, "As a family business, we are able to take decisions for the long term and this planned investment demonstrates our continued commitment to the future growth of the business.
"We recognise that consumer needs and tastes are changing and we must ensure we are fit to meet their needs, now and into the future."
The existing site in Burnley employs 250 people. Warburtons operates manufacturing facilities in Bristol and Bolton, which currently produce more than £1m of wraps and thins each week.
