General Motors is recalling 221,558 vehicles due to faulty brake pads that can be partially engaged even when they are not needed resulting in fire.
The vehicle includes 2013-2015 version of Cadillac XTS and 2014-2015 variant of Chevrolet Impala sedans that were sold in the US and Canada.
The car maker said if the electronic parking brake arm which applies pressure to the brake pads might not fully retract after use.
If the brake pads stay partially engaged it may cause excessive brake heat which may result in a fire.
The company said there is no reports of any injury related to the issue so far, and the dealers will replace the faulty part for free.
Recently GM compensated for 19 deaths that were caused due to faulty ignition switch, and still hundreds of claims are remaining to be settled.
