Tenova Strip Processing has successfully received the FAC (Final Acceptance Certificate) for the high speed Electrolytic Tinning Line in Jiangsu Dajiang Metal Material plant in China, one of the fastest in the world (550 meters per minute) that produces 250,000 tonnes per annum of tin plate.
In selecting Tenova Strip Processing for its high quality production, the customer has chosen the most advanced technology on the market. This order confirms the importance of Tenova on going investment in research and innovation.
From the environmental point of view, the line confirms the better expectations. The main advantages of the new technology compared to the traditional soluble anodes electrolytic process are, indeed, the remarkable reduction of waste sludge and the very good uniformity reached on the material's deposit thickness, that guarantees the highest quality of the final product. Other advantages are related to the protection of the working environment: the tank containing the electrolyte is sealed, so as to eliminate the acid vapor loss in the environment, while the process is fully automated and requires no manual intervention by operators.
The contract took effect in 2007, but was put on hold by the customer at the end of 2008 because of the world economic crisis. Erection operations by Dajiang subsequently began in May 2010, while strip tests were conducted in July 2011, with the production of the first tinned coil in September 2012.
The Dajiang plant is a showcase of Tenova products for the entire tin plate production cycle. The line supplied by Tenova Strip Processing is part of the tin plate cold mill complex, whose production cycle includes Tenova LOI Italimpianti coil annealing bell furnaces, Tenova I2S reversing mill and DCR mill and a Pomini Tenova roll grinder.
Tenova Strip Processing has installed more than 40 tinning lines to date, including eight lines in the past eight years.
