Swedish vehicle adaptation solutions firm Autoadapt has launched a new version of Turny Evo, a swivel seat fitted with device underneath that makes it rotate towards the door for the benefit of people with limited mobility.
The new version, designed for both drivers and passengers, claims to offer more comfort, ease of use, installation and safety.
The new Turny Evo and the coming Turny Low Vehicle, has been crash tested and approved at 30 G with a 102 kg crash test dummy. The first of two is set to hit the stores this year.
Autoadapt executive vice-president Peter Wahlsten said: "We firmly believe that everyone should be entitled to the same safety, but when you travel in a vehicle seated in a wheelchair you have already accepted a lower degree of safety. Without proper head and neck support it is practically as bad as not wearing a seat belt at all."
The seats can also be either manually controlled or programmable with advanced devices.
Besides, in case of seat lift, which is a version of swivel seat, the entire seat comes out and down for the comfort of the user.
As against a wheelchair, the seat has been designed with a view to making travel comfortable in a static position, without taking into consideration weight and other factors.
