Sollers-Bussan, a Russia-based vehicle-assembly joint venture (JV) between auto maker Sollers and Japan’s Mitsui, has started the production of Toyota Land Cruiser Prado sport utility vehicle (SUV) at its Vladivostok plant in Russia.
The JV firm had begun the trial production of the SUV on 25 January 2013 at the Vladivostok plant, which has an initial production capacity of 1,000 Toyota vehicles per month.
Toyota will be responsible for the supply of assembly components in addition to maintaining a product-quality management support structure including quality control training and personnel support.
The assembled vehicles will be shipped through the Trans-Siberian railway and will be on sale through Toyota's dealerships in Russia.
Sollers-Bussan, which was set up in August 2010 to manufacture Toyota brand automobiles, also produces vehicles at Toyota's St. Petersburg facility, in western part of Russia.
