TCL Packaging has developed new micro-perforated printed lidding films for packaging of soft fruit.
According to the UK-based company, the new films enable precise gas and moisture transmission rates and create optimum conditions for soft fruit.
The micro-perforated printed lidding films provide maximum protection from contaminants for the contents, unlike standard hole-punched lidding films, as well as provide effective tray sealing.
TCL Packaging technical director Markus Jarvstrom said: "The transfer of packaged soft fruit from ambient to chilled storage also presents an additional technical challenge for lidding film to avoid misting.
"We also encourage pre-printing because many growers are not aware that a secondary labelling process can impede the lidding film performance and affect their product"
The company has equipped its Telford factory with new Rofin-Baasel laser scribing unit, in order to quickly deliver printed, perforated lidding films for the new soft fruit season.
