UPM-Kymmene has sold 5,900 hectares of forest in Finland to the equity-capital fund ZE Mets?. The fund was set up by the asset management company Latifundium Management. Latifundium specialises in the acquisition and management of forest areas for institutional investors, asset managers, family offices and private persons and had already purchased 17,200 hectares from UPM via the Latifundium Wald I fund in 2012. As with the forest purchases in 2012, Latifundium or ZE Mets? has also concluded long-term management contracts and timber-supply agreements with UPM-Kymmene for the latest acquisition of 5,900 hectares. Forest management will be handled by the UPM subsidiary Mests?maailma.
