Mercedes-Benz has made the rescue sticker with QR codes as a standard feature in all Mercedes-Benz vans.
The QR code shows information about the location of vehicle components including fuel tanks, airbags and electric cables and it is designed to increase the speed of the rescue operation and minimize risks for occupants.
The rescue stickers are located on the B-pillars of Vito and the Sprinter, and in case of the Citan it is located at the fuel filler flap and on the B-pillar.
The rescue team can access the information of the QR code with a Smartphone. However, if no internet connection the rescuer can access an app which will allow the rescue cards to be called up offline from the device's memory.
Mercedes-Benz said from 2015 the app will be available for free.
