Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturer Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus (MFTBC) has launched the new Canter Eco Hybrid light-duty truck for the Taiwan market.
The truck is powered by an engine mated to the new dual-clutch transmission, DUONIC and combined to a built-in hybrid motor, which generates an output of 40kW and 200 Nm of torque.
Power for the built-in hybrid motor in the vehicle is supplied from laminate-type lithium (Li)-ion battery, which is claimed to offer high performance, while reducing the fuel consumption.
MFTBC Board chairman Takao Suzuki said Taiwan has developed as the company's number two largest export market for Fuso.
"The Canter light-duty truck has dominated the market with a number one market share over the last 21 years," Suzuki said.
According to the company, the hybrid vehicle uses lower fuel compared to the conventional Canter diesel model, while offering lower CO2 emissions and noise levels.
The launch is part of company's 'FUSO 2015' plan to reduce the average CO2 emissions to 7.5% by 2015.
