San Jose Valley Veal Recalls Veal Trimmings with E. Coli O157:H7

California-based San Jose Valley Veal is recalling approximately 1,260 pounds of veal trimmings as they may be contaminated with E. Coli O157:H7, according to the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The products being recalled include 60-pound, cardboard box cases of San Jose Valley Veal and Beef boneless veal trimmings. These boxes may contain the case codes 'L-1 11112,' 'L-1 11212,' 'L-1 11512,' 'L-1 11612,' 'L-1 11712,' 'L-1 11812' or 'L-1 11912.' bearing establishment number 'EST. 2828' inside the USDA mark of inspection.

These recalled products were produced between 1 November and 9 November 2012 and then transported to a federal facility for further distribution.

FSIS and the company have received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of these products but are concerned that some product might have been remained frozen and in consumers' freezers.

This recall has been classified as Class I, which indicates a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.

Consumption of food contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 may cause serious and potentially life-threatening illnesses. The symptoms include severe abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea.
