Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Hitachi and Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) have launched operation in an electricity vehicle demonstration project in Malaga, Spain.
The project is being launched as part of a Smart Community System Demonstration Project which including 200 electric vehicles (EV), 9 high-speed EV charging stations and an EV management center.
MHI, Hitachi and MC will provide advanced transportation technologies and power systems to the project as part of a deal with the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
According to the companies, the aim of the project, which will be conducted through March 2016, is to establish a next-generation transportation infrastructure to reduce CO2 emissions.
The demonstration project includes introduction of about 200 EVs that mainly comprise of i-MiEV vehicles manufactured by MMC.
High-speed EV charging stations equipped with 3 standard CHAdeMO chargers, which have been delivered by the MHI, have been set up at nine places to supply power to the EVs.
Four storage battery type chargers to address unstable power supplies will be provided by MHI, while four chargers that can charge up to four EVs simultaneously will be delivered by Hitachi.
