Mercedes Benz has unveiled a revamped version of the second-generation B-class which has received a range of mild exterior styling changes and high quality interior.
The B-class Electric Drive is developed and engineered by Mercedes-Benz in association with California electric car specialist, Tesla.
The refreshed B-class also comes with extended range petrol, diesel, natural gas and pure electric drivelines combined with both front- and four-wheel drive.
It uses a 16.6kWh lithium ion battery that is claimed to provide it with an overall range of up to 200km between trips to the electricity socket.
Second-generation B-class comes with a new front bumper with larger air ducts for more efficient engine bay cooling, a revised grille and daytime running lamps integrated into the headlamps assembly rather than lower down on the bumper as before.
Inside, the new B-class encompasses a new standard 8.0 inch free standing monitor, optional keyless entry and a revised attention assist system that monitors driver fatigue within an extended speed range from 60 to 200km/h and uses a five stage display.
The car is expected to be made available in Australia during the first quarter of 2015.
Since its launch in 2011, the second-generation B-class has garnered more than 350,000 sales worldwide.
