Carhartt Announced FR Outerwear Are UL Classified to Nfpa Safety Standard

Carhartt, America's premium work wear brand since 1889, announced that its insulated flame-resistant (FR) outerwear styles are UL Classified to the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) 2112 safety standard.

Previously, UL testing methods were designed for non-insulated garments which prevented certification for many outerwear styles. UL has updated testing protocols that best meet end users' "fitness for use," resulting in certification of insulated outerwear.

"Although for years Carhartt has offered FR pants, shirts, unlined coveralls, sweatshirts and base layers UL Classified to NFPA 2112, we are now adding insulated FR outerwear that meets the NFPA 2112 safety standard," said Tom Kiddle, Director of Specialized Sales at Carhartt. "We wanted to give our customers what they need on the job site and the addition of NFPA 2112 insulated outerwear allows workers to layer up in Carhartt and still be compliant."
