Cummins East Asia Research and Development Center Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary

Recently, Cummins East Asia Research and Development Center (EA R&D) held a grand ceremony to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Steve Chapman, Cummins Group Vice President – China and Russia, Dr.Peng Lixin, Cummins Vice President - Chief Engineering Officer of Cummins China, attended the ceremony.

Cummins EA R&D has developed many new product platforms in merely 10 years since its establishment in 2006 in Wuhan, Hubei Province from ISZ, ISD of Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co. Limited (DCEC), to ISF and ISG of Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co. Limited (BFCEC), from 9.3L and 7L of Guangxi Cummins Industrial Power (GCIC), to local natural gas engines 8.9L and 6.7L, testing for the emission compliance with China on-highway NS 4, NS 5 and NS 6, as well as China off-highway stage 3 and beyond.

EA R&D is able to test all of Cummins current engine platforms for emissions, performance, NVH and durability, as well as undertake testing of engine system components such as filtration and exhaust aftertreatment systems, turbochargers and fuel systems. The site also has lab areas for metrology and metallurgy, electronic controls, emissions and fuel pumps. As a joint venture between Cummins and Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co. Limited (DCEC), EA R&D has become the second-largest technical center of Cummins in the world with a total investment of 100 million USD, over 300 senior engineers and researchers and a wide range of experiment facilities.
