US-based retail chain 7-Eleven has introduced Breakfast Empanada Bites - its new miniature, crescent-shaped pastries.
The launch builds on the success of the company's first Latin-inspired hot foods snack introduced last year.
The new Empanada Bites are filled with eggs, cheese, bacon, smoked ham and sausage. Three contain 10g of protein and only 230 calories.
Commenting on the launch 7-Eleven Fresh Food Innovation vice president Kelly Buckley said that the new Empanada Bites can be consumed as a hot, savory, high-protein breakfast and a snack option.
The Breakfast Empanada Bites, priced at $1 for three, are available at all 7-Eleven's participating locations in the country. Like the Mini Tacos, the Breakfast Empanada Bites are heated in rapid-cook ovens at 7-Eleven stores and served hot, the company said.
7-Eleven operates franchises or licenses more than 10,000 stores in North America and has nearly 50,000 stores in 16 countries worldwide.
