Swedish automobile manufacturer Volvo Car Group has commenced production of its S60 and V60 Polestar models at the Torslanda manufacturing facility in G?teborg.
The company has already built the first Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar cars, which are on the way to be delivered to its customers, representing the beginning of production for worldwide markets.
In 2014, Volvo plans to build a total of 750 S60 and V60 Polestar model cars for customers in Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the US.
Volvo S/V60 Polestar Technical Project manager Henrik Fries said the company is happy to see the first ever complete production cars from Polestar be built in its factory.
"It is a satisfying result of many hours of work by the people of Polestar and Volvo behind this," Fries added.
The new Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar models feature a turbo charged 6-cylinder engine generating an output of 350hp as well as a chassis with high performance dampers and brakes.
Volvo Cars Europe Car Manufacturing vice president Magnus Hellsten said, "We are delighted to see the first cars leave the factory and it has been an exciting journey together with Polestar to see these cars from the drawing board until the actual finalized product being produced with us on the factory line.
Volvo Torslanda factory has completed 50 years of operations and has built over 6.8 million cars during the period.
