Felix, a new technology accessories brand, serves up consumer electronics accessories with product designs that blend functionality and personality.
The company’s first products, TwoHands and MonkeyDo, target iPad, e-reader and tablet users as the first stands with personality. Both simple designs feature hands that hold the device and both can accommodate iPads in portrait or landscape viewing at different angles. TwoHands delivers simple fold-up portability, while MonkeyDo incorporates toes to anchor the stand. With 85 percent of tablet use reportedly for personal vs. business purposes and tablets now more popular than computers for watching TV shows according to a recent Viacom study, the Felix products aim to make the technology easier to use.
Today marks the launch of TwoHands and MonkeyDo at Staples stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, Staples.com and MeetFelix.com. The number of Americans owning at least one digital tablet or e-reader jumped from 18 percent last December to 29 percent in January of this year, according to the Pew Research Center. Staples will offer the items at a promotion price of $19.99 for the holidays, making Felix products a suitable gift for a current iPad, tablet or e-reader owner or as a useful add-on to give with a new device.
Felix CEO Chris Michaud is leveraging his career in design and innovation to create Felix. “I’m interested in finding new ways to bend technology to fit better into our lives. We think there’s a market that will appreciate well designed tech accessories that deliver on form, function and fun,” he explained. Felix worked with Continuum, a global innovation and design consultancy, to design its initial line of products.
In addition to tablet stands, Michaud said the Felix 2013 line will include additional products such as phone and tablet cases. All products must pass the Felix “Smile Test” indicating a positive emotional response to the product design.
