Airwheel, a US based, personal mobility and self-balancing scooter maker announced that it is entering into Artificial Intelligence and robotics business.
The company recently launched Airwheel S9, a self-balancing wheeled service robot at the CeBIT in Germany, recently.
Airwheel says that Airwheel S9 can be used as a mobile robot base, smart transportation vehicle and a mobile home monitor.
It also said that this robot is easily scalable and can be connected to other devices in the future very easily and in a cost-effective manner.
Airwheel CEO, Zuo Guogang said: "As an international company with a strong brand and a significant market share, Airwheel plans to extend its reach to personal companion, household services, smart home appliances, etc. in the future."
"This is how we will carry on the company, which is also in line with the trend of a smarter society.
"However, we will not launch new products in haste before the related technologies mature. We'll play it safe, being responsible for both our customers and shareholders."
CEO Zuo said: ""Compared with traditional vehicles such as bicycles and automobiles, self-balancing electric vehicles are less popular, but with advantages in creativity and experience, they also appeal to customers who are open to new ideas. We hold full confidence in the market potential."
In the near future, the company plans to release vehicles in four categories. These include portable smart transportation vehicles, smart underwater vehicles smart air vehicles and service robots.
Airwheel, with its self-balancing wheel products and with more than 100 patents and more than 70 certifications has established itself as a serious player in a niche industry.
The company has strategic long-term partnerships with Google, Qualcomm, Sony and Panasonic and has registered in about 168 countries.
Airwheel also recently launched new portable smart transportation vehicles which have reported to have good design and safety performance.
