The new concept engine is powered by diesel, as the compay's plans to prove the working of the new technology before developing a new LNG fuel system.

MkII Clarke-Brayton Engine is expected to offer two times more efficiency compared to conventional automobile engine and about 20% more efficiency than modern diesel engines.

Motiv Engines CEO Ed O'Malley said this is a major step toward the company's goal of building the most efficient engine in the world for trucks, automobiles and power generation.

"The improvement in efficiency and the use of natural gas makes this engine a natural fit to meet the upcoming greenhouse gas emissions regulations while reducing costs for operators," O'Malley added.

The engine divides processes into three separate spaces rather than performing all the operations in a single compromised space that enables it to implement a better efficient cycle, while achieving a 56:1 compression ratio.
