The Torchiere
Molded after the Olympic torch, which is ran around the entire country of where the Olympics are held that year,so around the United Kingdom for 2012,to symbolize the upcoming months to the games themselves. The history of the torch started in Ancient Greece and represented the theft of fire from the Greek god Zeus by Poseidon. After many years without the torch,it was brought back at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam and has stayed a tradition ever since. It is a symbol of unity, tradition, sportsmanship, and the beginning of the Olympic games.Having Torchiere lighting in your home will bring elements of Ancient history and tradition with modern design and bright lighting. There are a variety of torchieres;either fit for the table or floor;you can bring the excitement of the games into your décor.

The Union Jack Lamp
The Union Flag, also known as the Union Jack,is the name of the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom, once divided between three countries,Scotland,Ireland and England, fought for many years over land, wealth, monarchies, rebellion, and taxes along with other things. But finally after years of war,and oppression the three countries joined and became the United Kingdom or Great Britain. The greater part of Ireland is still its own country, but Northern Ireland remains a member of Great Britain.Composed of the colors, red, white and blue;the Union Jack symbolizes the joining of those three countries. The flag consists of the red cross of Saint George(patron saint of England),edged in white, crossing behind is the Cross of St Patrick(patron saint of Ireland),placed behind that is the Saltire of Saint Andrew(patron saint of Scotland)and is edged in blue. What better way to show your Olympic spirit and have bright lighting then to have a Union Jack lamp sitting in your home!
