Rooted in the original Chinese philosophy and social customs, nourished by cultures from diverse nationalities, geographical localities and through different historical times, Chinese folk art has now blossomed and laden with fresh fruit, more vibrant than ever before.
Chinese folk art features multiple categories; therefore, it would be hard to cover all. Following are exemplary few. Among the many art works by Chinese female laborers, we will focus on paper-cut (paper-cut also serves as patterns for embroidery, and plane views for floury flower); and for the works by career folk artists which is male-dominant, we will cover leather silhouette, woodcut New Year picture, exorcist culture and kite.
