In southwest China's Sichuan province, near the Yalong river of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yajiang County attracts many visitors. Especially in July, the comfortable climate and the most charming scenery draw a bustling crowd to the Western Sichuan Plateau.
In recent years, Yajiang County's government has been promoting local tourism with the No. 318 national highway. The road has become an engine for local travel development and has brought economic income for local residents.
Ding Shuhua, from central Sichuan Province's city of Qionglai, rented a house near the new national highway and in 2002 opened a restaurant in Yajiang County. Ding is very happy now that his business has grown steadily along with the developing tourist industry.
Yajiang County now is building new tourist attractions and resorts around the Yalong river and the No. 318 national highway.
Local government statistics claim that over 99 thousand tourists have come to Yajiang County for travel in the first half of 2015, bringing about 22 million yuan (3.5 million US dollars) in revenue.
