Singsong on June 6th
The singsong on June 6th is a unique art festival featuring mainly singing and dancing performed by Tibetans on the June 6th in Tibetan calendar every year. In the days before the festival, the people will go out in a group to the exuberant meadow with flocks and herds or to the forests, and choose their favorite location for camping, while preparing their tents, kitchen and food.
On the day of singsong, everyone is dressed up in silk Tibetan clothes of all colors rimmed with otter skin. The women will specially wear a hat and gold or silver ornaments, with colored bands tied on their waists, gathering on the beautiful grassland. When the singsong begins, people will dance to the music sung by male or female singers. The peddlers will also put up temporary stores, restaurants and booths for the gathering, turning the lonely meadow and forests into busy streets.
