According to the statistics from the goverment and Indian Ministry of Commerce, India's volume of goods trade was USD298.21 billion from January to June in 2016, down 10.7% year-on-year (the same below). Exports fell by 5.1% to USD130.55 billion, and imports fell by 14.7% to USD167.66 billion. The trade deficit was USD37.12 billion, down 37.0%.
In June, India’s volume of goods trade fell by 5.3% to USD52.95 billion. Exports grew by 0.6% to USD22.49 billion and imports fell by 9.3% to USD30.46 billion. And the trade deficit fell by 28.9% to USD7.98 billion.
Since January to June, bilateral trade volume between India and China fell by 4.8% to USD32.63 billion. India’s exports to China fell by 19.8% to USD4.12 billion. It accounted for 3.2% of India’s overall export, down 0.5%. And India’s imports from China fell by 2.2% to USD28.50 billion. It accounted for 17.0% of India’s overall imports, up 2.2% over the previous year. India’s trade deficit with China grew by 1.6% to USD24.38 billion.
China was the 5th export market of India and its largest source of imports up to June in 2016.
